Project: Empowering Rural Women Through Sewing Training
Challenge : The affluence of rural women is declining, and they encounter obstacles while attempting to leave their villages for employment. But if we teach them sewing skills, they will definitely learn how to sew, and they will have lots of opportunities to use their skills to generate income so they can sustain themselves and their families.
Objective:
- Empower women and marginalized groups in Sabah through the development of sewing skills.
- Strengthen community bonds and promote social cohesion.
Duration: January 2022 – March 2022
Locations : Kg Binanun, Mukim Tatalaan, Nabawan ,Sabah
Participation Data
· Total Participants: 20
· Gender Breakdown: 20 females, 0 males
· Age Range: 18-50 years old
· Demographics: women from low-income households, single mothers, and unemployed women.
Key Activities
· Training Workshops:
· Frequency: Monthly workshops.
· Content: Basic hand sewing techniques
Hours : 55 Hours
· Materials Provided: Upcycling fabrics, threads, needles, basic sewing kit, patterns, and instructional manuals.
