Summary: A total of 25 participants from the Sandayo Dusun Ethnic Cultural Organization in Paitan successfully completed a three-day workshop from June 18–20, 2025. Conducted by G1FT as part of the Cultural Sustainability Project, the workshop aimed to empower the local community through traditional craft and sustainable textile skills, resulting in 52 completed hand-crafted products.

Objective: To preserve and promote cultural heritage through hands-on training in natural dyeing, canting (wax-resist drawing), batik making, and garment sewing inspired by Sandayo ethnic motifs and local flora.

Duration: June 18–20, 2025

Locations: Kg. Pinangkau, Paitan, Sabah

Key Activities

· Training Workshops: Hands-on training delivered by G1FT covering natural dyeing, wax-resist drawing (canting), batik production, and sewing techniques.

· Frequency: One-Off programmes

· Content: Natural dyeing, canting (wax-resist drawing), batik making, and sewing techniques to produce accessories, blouses, cardigans, and trousers based on Sandayo ethnic motifs and local flora.

Hours : 22 Hours 

· Items Produced: 52 items successfully created, including accessories, blouses, cardigans, and trousers incorporating Sandayo motifs and local flora.

· Materials Provided: Hand Sewing kit, fabrics , patterns, and instructional manuals.
